craft sesh #6 was a huge success!

We ended up making two cakes. Both were chocolate sponge cake with cream cheese frosting but they were different colors and had different fruit garnishes. They were both delicious!!

My friend Aidan cutting up the fruit. Cactus pears and apricots. Yum!! He also brought these super delicious cherries whose variety I can't remember the name of. Alas...

The cactus pears were a little more squishy than we thought, perhaps not sturdy enough as a garnish...so we decided to use the juice to color the icing. It ended up being a beautiful vibrant pink color. Pics incoming...

This is the second cake we made, but wanted to show it first so you could see what color the cactus pear icing ended up looking like. So beautiful! This was a two-layered cake with sliced apricots and cactus pears in the middle, and various fruits on top (apricots, blackberries, cherries). Aidan used his artistic prowess to make it coquette. Yay!

Bird's eye view of the pink coquette cake

Here is the first cake! My friend Patricia covered the outside with this super blue frosting. It was supposed to be a baby blue but I totally messed up the food coloring to frosting ratio. My bad! Then my sister Dani decorated the top with cute little dollops of frosting, nests for the little fruits! Our friend Tom said it looked like the coronavirus... oops...

Not even gonna lie, I had the leftover cake for breakfast the next day. I love my little life #mylittlelife

Friday, June 6 @ 6:00 PM

I will be making chocolate cake (recipe here)!!! Except I'll be replacing the buttercream frosting with cream cheese cuz that's how I roll.

Bring cake decorating materials or just bring yourself! If anyone has piping bags or food coloring plz let me know! Fruit toppings would be so nice too but if not just lmk and I'll get some myself the day of! We're gonna feast!!!

I was thinking of either ordering sushi or pizza for dinner :D
